Mo Money Mo Problems

Jan 07, 2023

When you come home from work and start complaining about your day to your spouse, what do you complain about? Is it your staff, your coworkers, your new responsibilities because you just got promoted.

Wellllllll, wasn't there a point where you applied for that job?

You knew what you were getting yourself into, right?

So why are you surprised that with a greater level of responsibility,  the struggles are greater too?

Why are you complaining about something you wanted?

Maybe you're complaining because it's difficult. It's new. It's outside of your expertise now, but you'll be a pro at the job in a year. It just takes time.

If you've chosen a new goal that is leveling you up, realize that struggling and discomfort is going to happen and is all part of the growth process. So what can you do to help yourself through the growing pains?

  1. Prepare for not just the finish line, but all the way up to the finish line. Think about all of the struggles that will come along with striving for your goals. Find others who have gone through the same journey, and ask them what they struggled with. Learn from them, so as you're going through the journey, you shouldn't be surprised, because you've prepared for it. Michael Scott might not be my first choice of mentors, but he's in my top 3 lol:
  2. Don't shrink from the effort:  Just because it gets hard, you're not going to quit because this time you're going to prepare for it, skill up, get help, so you can grow into what you want. As Marie Forleo says, "Everything is figureoutable."  As Michael Scott says:
  3. Be aware of any time when you're complaining, having negative self talk, or a negative tone. You'll just be training your brain to not like the situation, which will just make things harder than they need to be, as Michael Scott knows:
  4. As Brendon Burchard says, "Honor the struggle." When it gets hard, understand that this is just part of growing. It's going to be hard and uncomfortable. With bigger opportunities, come bigger struggles. With enough time, energy, effort, coaching, mentorship, YOU CAN FIGURE IT OUT.

Trust yourself. You don't have to be perfect, you will make mistakes….but keep moving forward in the right direction towards your goals.

And as you grow remember:

Hope that left you satisfied and smiling [that's what she said],
