Going the Extra Mile
Feb 02, 2023How can you exceed expectations in all areas of your life, instead of just doing the bare minimum?
When you're just trying to survive, asking anyone to do more is not accepted well.
But now, after we've dealt with a pandemic and economic issues, there's a new expectation to be productive, to add value, to stand out, to be competitive, and to exceed expectations.
No matter what you're doing, go the extra mile, do your best, because you're a good person and you hold yourself to a higher standard and know when you're not reaching your potential.
When you do your best, others will do their best too. Like karma, what goes around, comes around.
If you're in a culture or raised in a way where everyone just does the bare minimum or they cheer for you when you accomplish the bare minimum, they are actually setting you up for failure, for a comfortable life, and for a poor (lack) mindset. Instead, you want to have an abundant mindset, where you're tapping into your potential, and you level up yourself and others around you.
Always ask how you can exceed expectations in each situation, because you're a role model for those around you. Never get tired of being a role model, because people watch, learn, and notice what you do and say.
As Paula Abdul said, "There's not traffic after the extra mile." In other words, not too many people go above and beyond.
When you hold back, you train yourself to only do the minimum. You know that you have more potential, but you're not using it. You're not growing, and it hurts all the areas of your life. If we don't stretch and grow, we are stuck in a boring and monotonous life.
When you're growing, you feel alive, you care more about yourself and others, you are able to tap into your full potential and accomplish more of what you're striving for in life.
Respect your inner voice that tells you that you're meant for more and can do more. Don't disrespect your inner voice. Be proud of yourself. Have integrity.
When you put value into the world, others see it and feel it. They will also value you more, and you are rewarded over the long run.
How can you help with going the extra mile? Keep improving through personal development. Keep working on yourself so you can serve better in this world.
Journal how you can exceed expectations at work, at home, at any area of your life.
Hope that left you satisfied and smiling [that's what she said],
